Parkes is literally the crossroads of the nation, strategically situated on the east-west rail corridor and on the major inland north-south road corridor of the Newell Highway.

By road
Parkes is located very close to the geographical centre of New South Wales, a convenient 365km from Sydney, 995km from Brisbane, 732km from Melbourne, 1,067km from Adelaide and 306km from Canberra.

Please note that the CBD will be closed to traffic from 7am Friday 13 January to 4pm Saturday 14 January.

By rail
The NSW TrainLink Elvis Express train service travels annually on the Thursday of the Festival from Sydney to Parkes, returning Monday. For more information, see here.

Regional Express (REX) flies directly to Parkes from Sydney several times daily, additional charter services available. The airport is located 5km east of Parkes.

Parkes Town Service
Western Road Liners operates shuttle buses within Parkes during the Festival period. An unlimited ticket within Parkes is $15, with a single-use ticket $4. Children under 16 ride for free. Elvis Express ticket holders receive complimentary shuttle bus transfers on all services excluding the Parkes-The Dish service. Download your 2017 timetable here.

Parkes-Forbes

Cenwestours operates regular ticketed services between Parkes and Forbes during the Festival period. An unlimited ticket is $35, with a single-use ticket $10. Children under 16 ride for free. Parkes-Peak Hill

Western Road Liners operates regular ticketed services between Parkes and Peak Hill during the Festival period. An unlimited ticket is $25, with a single-use ticket $5. Parkes-The Dish

Western Road Liners operates a ticketed service between Parkes and The Dish during the Festival period. Tickets are $7.50 return, or $20 return for a family of four. Children under 5 ride for free. Parkes-Cowra

Parkes-Orange

Shuttle bus services will be operating between Parkes and Orange on Friday 13 January, Saturday 14 January and Sunday 15 January. The cost is $30 per person return.
