About this event

It is the Parkes Elvis Festival’s honour to induct Australian music royalty, Marcia Hines AM, into the Parkes Elvis Festival Wall of Fame in 2026.

Marcia Hines, born on July 20, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts, is one of Australia’s most beloved and enduring performers. Affectionately known as the “Queen of Pop,” her remarkable voice, charisma, and trailblazing career have made her a household name for generations of music lovers.

Hines’ journey in music began when she moved to Australia at just 16 years old to star in the production of Hair. Her powerful performances soon captured the nation’s attention, leading to a groundbreaking solo career that would see her become Australia’s first Black pop star and one of its most celebrated female artists.

Her 1970s albums, including Marcia Shines (1975), delivered hits such as Fire and Rain and You, which topped the charts and cemented her as a powerhouse in the Australian music industry. With her stunning vocal range and emotive delivery, Hines dominated the airwaves and live stages, winning the nation’s heart and ushering in a new era of Australian pop music.

Across her career, Marcia has sold over 2.6 million albums, performed for audiences around the world, and remained a constant presence on stage and television. Her artistry has been recognised with numerous accolades, including being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007.

Beyond her music, Marcia has left an indelible mark as a mentor and television personality, most notably as a judge on Australian Idol, where her wisdom, warmth, and encouragement inspired countless aspiring performers.

In 2009, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her services to the entertainment industry, highlighting her extraordinary contributions not only to music but also to the broader cultural life of Australia.

Even after decades in the spotlight, Marcia continues to captivate audiences with her signature energy, sophistication, and unmistakable voice. Her more recent work—including sold-out tours and festival performances—proves her artistry is as timeless and relevant as ever.

As an artist, trailblazer, and mentor, Marcia Hines embodies the essence of resilience, creativity, and passion. Her story is one of inspiration, and her music continues to bring people together across generations.

The Parkes Elvis Festival is proud to honour Marcia Hines by inducting her into the Elvis Wall of Fame at the new Gates of Graceland, celebrating her extraordinary career and her immeasurable impact on Australian music and culture.

You’ll also witness a special moment in Festival history as three Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champions unveil their Stars of Fame. Josuel Grech (2025), Toki Toyokazu (2020) and Anthony Petrucci (2018). A celebration of their incredible achievements and their place in Parkes Elvis Festival history.
